USA - July 14, 2024

A recent traffic stop by a DPS Trooper on US-277 in Kinney County led to the discovery of an alleged smuggling attempt. The driver, a Florida resident, and a passenger, a Cuban national with a pending US court hearing for American citizenship, were found transporting two illegal immigrants from Mexico. The driver asserted to the officer that they were not engaged in smuggling, but were merely assisting the migrants, who had requested a ride.

Both the driver and the passenger have been charged with smuggling of persons under Texas law. The two illegal immigrants discovered in the vehicle were turned over to Border Patrol custody for further processing.
