This is the adorable moment a mother cat consistently taught her kitten to climb a tree in China.

Ms Shao witnessed Heijing, the black cat, diligently showing her baby, Little Pumpkin, how to hop onto the branches in her backyard from midnight until dawn in Changzhou, Zhejiang, on July 7.

Footage shows the feline continuously climbing the tree. By sunrise, the little furry creature made an effort to jump up like its mother.

Although it failed and tumbled down, it persisted in following its parent's lead and began a new round of attempts.

The pet owner said: 'Heijing was a stray cat that gave birth to eight kittens. She took excellent care of them, and they all grew plump.'

The owner kept one kitten that resembled its mother the most and gave the other seven to good families.
