STORYLINE:
At the just-concluded 3rd Conference of Global Health Forum of Boao Forum for Asia in Beijing, participants once again focused on the deep integration of AI and healthcare industry.
Experts shared and discussed the challenges and opportunities that will be brought by "AI+ healthcare."
SOUNDBITE 1 (English): JENNY SHIPLEY, Former Prime Minister of New Zealand
"As we think about the application of AI, one of the biggest challenges is to then be able to also help carry the arguments as to how these new technologies will displace traditional practices, because in my observation, existing practitioners will often hold on for a very long time to their own sector of health care. But if you have the public interest that where citizens are wanting more for the same or more for less, not only your brilliance and finding solutions in AI, but carrying the narrative or the arguments of how this technology will help reduce the costs in previous practices and procedures is going to be an important part of the public good. And it is the bottom part of the iceberg."
SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): JIN XING, CEO of So-Young International Inc.
"I believe that in the future, AI will help medical institutions to reduce programmers and server equipment to process data. Some dedicated AI systems will be good at processing data, and help to improve the efficiency."
Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Beijing.
