STORYLINE:
The Lebanese border town of Meiss Al Jabal endured severe damage from Israeli shelling and air raids on Friday.
Israel targeted buildings in the border town, claiming the buildings were used by the Shiite resistance militia of Hezbollah.
Hussein Mourtada, a local resident who witnessed the Israeli attack, rejected the claims that the targeted houses were used as military posts.

"I was working on my land here, and all of a sudden, I heard the sound of a bomb that struck a house near mine. The children and women were screaming out of fear. I came over and found a three-story building reduced to rubble. There was no house there anymore. Innocent children are now homeless. What can you say?"
Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border escalated on Oct. 8, 2023, following a barrage of rockets launched by Hezbollah toward Israel in solidarity with Hamas's attack on Israel the day before. Israel then retaliated by firing heavy artillery toward southeastern Lebanon.
