STORYLINE:
This three-month-old baby in Papua New Guinea was born with a severe condition, but thanks to the efforts of the 13th Chinese medical team to aid the country, her life was saved.
During a recent home visit, Dr. Liu Yin, a pediatrician from the team, gave her a meaningful name - Kim Koko.
The name symbolizes hopes for a prosperous future for the child and enduring friendship between China and Papua New Guinea.
Liu Yin first met Koko at Port Moresby General Hospital three months ago, shortly after her birth, when she was experiencing breathing difficulties due to a congenital diaphragmatic hernia.
Following emergency surgery the next day, Koko received treatment from both the Chinese medical team and local pediatric specialists, leading to her recovery.
She was reunited with her mother on the 21st day after birth.
Her mother, Julan Simon, expressed her gratitude through a letter before leaving the hospital.

"Thank you, Dr. Yin, for saving my baby. My baby is OK now."
After Koko was discharged from the hospital, Liu Yin made numerous visits to her home on the outskirts of Port Moresby to check on her health conditions.
The 13th Chinese medical team has contributed significantly by providing four new neonatal ventilators for the neonatal ward at Port Moresby General Hospital.
Liu Yin also initiated Papua New Guinea's first respiratory support training course, which has been conducted 10 times, benefiting 300 local medical staff.
