Bratenahl police have apprehended a 14-year-old boy following a dramatic attempt to evade capture in a stolen Kia. Eyewitnesses described a daring scene as the teenager drove the vehicle while seated on the car door, with the window open, during the chase.

The incident unfolded on Thursday evening when a Flock camera in Bratenahl alerted officers to the stolen Kia speeding along Lakeshore Boulevard. Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver evaded capture, leading to a high-speed pursuit.

The situation escalated when the Kia lost control and collided with another vehicle at the intersection of South Marginal Drive and East 55th Street. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the crash, according to Bratenahl police.

Following the collision, four individuals fled on foot from the Kia, but officers managed to apprehend the 14-year-old suspect. Police investigations revealed that the Kia had been stolen from a neighboring suburb in Northeast Ohio.

Assistance in locating the other occupants was provided by the Cleveland Division of Police and Cleveland Metroparks Police Department, aiding in the ongoing investigation.
