A brave bloke climbed a 20ft tall lamppost to rescue a seagull trapped in its design.

Iain Dunlop was working the doors at Box Bar, Glasgow, on July 14 when he spotted one of the punters climbing the light opposite his work.

Heartwarming footage – which has been viewed more than 1.2million times – shows the man clambering up the metal structure towards the stranded bird.

Within seconds the bloke had lifted the seagull free, allowing it to fly off, before expertly sliding back down the post like a fireman’s pole.

Iain, who owns Total Treecall Scotland, said: “I honestly could not believe what I was seeing.

“The guy must have climbed 20ft in the air to rescue the seagull. He was up and down in no time at all though.

“I was going to get my climbing gear from my car but before I had the chance he’d got up and down and freed the bird.

“It took him less than two minutes to get up and down. The seagull appeared to be grand and the customer went back inside the bar.”
