USA: SUV Wedged Partially Under Big Rig Trapping Driver

07/21/2024 11:45 pm (GMT-0700) | SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – One person was rushed to a trauma center after they were cut from the wreckage of an SUV partially trapped under a big rig.
The incident occurred at 11:45 p.m. within the intersection of Highway 126 and Newhall Ranch Road north of Interstate 5 at Castaic Junction.
Initial reports from the scene indicated the older model Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling eastbound on Highway 126 when it slammed into the trailer of a big rig exiting northbound Interstate 5’s off-ramp to westbound Highway 126.
Los Angeles County firefighters, Newhall area CHP officers and Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrived on scene to find the Jeep partially stuck under the big rig’s trailer and the SUV’s driver, an older man, trapped in his seat.
The man was freed from the wreckage using hydraulic spreaders and sheers shortly after 12:05 a.m. and subsequently rushed to a trauma center in unknown condition.
The crash is under investigation by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
