Sana'a, Yemen - July 20, 2024

A large number of Yemeni people lined up at gas stations to refuel their cars for fear of fuel shortages in the coming days following the Israeli airstrikes on the Hodeidah port area of Yemen on Saturday afternoon

In the early morning of Friday, the Yemeni Houthi group forces attacked Israeli capital Tel Aviv with drones. As a retaliation, Israel on Saturday afternoon launched airstrikes on multiple targets in the western Yemeni port city of Hodeidah, which is now controlled by the Houthi group.

The targets of the Israeli strikes included power plants and fuel storage facilities in the port area.

Video footage released by Reuters showed a huge explosion in the port area of Hodeidah, which caused a fire, with thick black smoke and flames rising into the air.

On Saturday evening in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, a large number of people flocked to gas stations for refueling.

Since Yemen's political turmoil in 2011, there have been frequent fuel shortages, including gasoline, diesel and natural gas.
