The third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has set a course for China's high-level economic development and serves as a foundation for its economic relations with Cuba and the Latin American region, said Carlos Alzugaray, former Cuban diplomat and political analyst.

Praising the adoption of a resolution at the session that aims to further deepen reform and advance Chinese modernization, Alzugaray said he expects the country to build on its many accomplishments to find greater prosperity.

He noted that China's proactive approach in developing economic relationships with countries in Southeast Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Eastern Europe is clearly reflected in the outcomes of the plenum.

The former diplomat also stressed that the results of this plenum stand to boost bilateral relations between China and Cuba.

The third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee was held in Beijing from Monday to Thursday.

"This is an extremely significant meeting in which the Communist Party of China has taken another fundamental step in the development of market socialism and especially a market socialism of a higher level in the way for the socialist modernization of China on the basis of Chinese characteristics. If one observes, for example, the way that science has developed in China, you are surprise by the number of infrastructure initiatives that have taken place in China itself but also outside China under the Belt and Road Initiative. The Chinese transportation industry has developed very strongly.";

Many of these things are very highly appreciated in countries of the Global South: in the Caribbean, in Southeast Asia, in the Far East, in Africa, you see it all over the place.";

"Of course, because in the way China is developing, it opens a lot of roads for Cuba to cooperate with China, for example in the pharmaceutical industry, where there is already cooperation. There is also cooperation in the development of alternative sources of energy. Another area where there is a lot of connections is in telecommunications, and now the most recent development is access to Chinese electric vehicles. This city is growing with electric vehicles that are being produced in China and imported to China and this is very significant.";
