Jumbo python lives undetected in dorm's ceiling for a year after attacking worker
A jumbo python was caught nesting in a dormitory's ceiling a year after it attacked a worker.
The 15ft-long snake was thought to have escaped to the forest after biting employee Chalermpol Phuangsiri, 40, while sleeping in his room and who had to get 38 stitches for his injury in Chachoengsao, Thailand.
However, the reptile once again sparked panic among workers when it was spotted slithering to the roof on the porch where it was believed to have been hiding all this time.
Footage shows the python being searched by a volunteer through a hole in the porch roof. The team followed it to the other side as it tried to flee before they caught it with a stick.
A rescuer said: ‘We received a report from Sang Thai Bangpakong Co Ltd employees that a snake was discovered in the staff dorm.
‘It slithers outside the toilet where there was a hole going to the ceiling.'
The wildlife team dragged the snake to the back of the compound and put it in a sack despite its attempts to resist. It took at least four people to carry and evacuate it from the dormitory.
No one was hurt, and the snake was released unharmed and back into the wild.
The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
