This is the moment a visually impaired English teacher in Turkey falls into a sewer that was left uncovered.

CCTV footage shows the visually impaired teacher, named only as Guldane DD, walking in the street with another person, reportedly also visually impaired, when she suddenly disappeared out of sight after falling into the open manhole in Samsun on July 17.

The other person, named only as Emragh D., nearly fell in as well but managed to stop themselves at the last second.

Onlookers can be seen helping the woman out of the sewer as the footage ends.

The pair were taken to the Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University Medical Faculty Hospital by ambulance for treatment and the police have launched an investigation into the incident, according to local media reports.
