USA: Suspect Striking Two Officers with Car
New York, USA - May 24, 2024
The NYPD has made public the body-worn camera footage capturing an officer-involved shooting that occurred on May 24, 2024, within the 75th Precinct. The release includes comprehensive evidence leading up to and during the incident, aimed at providing clarity on the sequence of events.
The incident unfolded when officers stopped a suspect for a defective brake light. During the stop, one officer requested the suspect to exit the vehicle, but instead, the suspect accelerated, striking another officer while fleeing the scene. In response, the first officer fired shots at the fleeing vehicle. The suspect was apprehended several days later.
Reports indicate the officer struck by the vehicle sustained minor injuries and is receiving treatment.
