Chinese boy falls from height after monkey snatches food at Mount Emei
A monkey knocked down a young boy in a bid to snatch food, causing him to fall from a height in southern China.
The video was filmed at the Emei Mountain Scenic Area in Sichuan Province on July 20.
According to witnesses, a large macaque suddenly attacked a young boy holding food. The monkey aggressively lunged at the boy’s food, causing him to lose his balance and fall from the high viewpoint.
Fortunately, he landed on relatively soft ground, which cushioned the fall and prevented more serious injuries.
Following the incident, scenic area staff promptly arrived to provide emergency care and monitor the boy’s condition. After receiving immediate medical attention, the boy’s condition was stabilised and he is reported to be fine.
In response to the incident, the Emei Mountain Scenic Area management has vowed to take serious lessons from the event, promising to enhance patrols and management of the monkey population to ensure visitor safety.
The management also announced plans to install more warning signs to advise tourists against feeding monkeys and to maintain a safe distance. Additionally, the number of patrolling personnel will be increased to handle similar emergencies more effectively.
