STORYLINE:

These girls were preparing for a youth women's practice hockey game at the Sports School of Jingyuan County in northwest China's Gansu Province.

This hockey team was established in May 2008.

A year later, the school was named a National Olympic Hockey Reserve Talent Base, making it one of four such bases in Gansu.

So far, the team has secured five national youth hockey championships and five provincial youth championships.

Many of its players aim high.

"I've been playing hockey for five years since the eighth grade. I went to my high school due to my hockey talent. My current goal is to join the provincial team and train for a national first-level athlete certificate."

"I really appreciate the hockey atmosphere here. I especially admire the children's resilience and hard work on hockey. Their determination makes me want to stay here and help them to achieve excellent results in national competitions."

The school team has become a cradle for hockey talents.

More than 20 talented players in provincial and national teams were once trained here.
