Terrifying moment wild macaques push boy off wall to steal his food
This is the moment two wild macaques pushed a boy off a high stone wall in a bid to steal his food.
The incident was captured in footage filmed by a shocked tourist on a visit to Mount Emei, in Sichuan, China, on Saturday, July 20.
The video shows the child standing on top of the wall, apparently admiring the surrounding nature when the monkeys spotted him.
Deeming him an easier target than the grownups walking past, they charged at the boy as soon as they saw he was holding a snack.
They aggressively tried to snatch it from his hands and wound him up, tackling him off the wall.
The sudden attack caused the boy to lose his balance and fall from a height.
Fortunately, he did not suffer serious injuries, so he scrambled quickly back onto his feet and raced away to safety.
The authorities have not confirmed the extent of any potential injuries to the boy, who has not been named.
Recent reports indicate an increase in aggressive behaviour from monkeys towards tourists in the area.
In response to these incidents, visitors are advised to remain calm if they find themselves faced with a group of monkeys demanding food.
Instead of screaming or running, it is recommended that they seek assistance from park administrators to ensure their safety and reduce the likelihood of similar occurrences.
