Drivers stranded as waterfall cascades into road in the Philippines
Drivers were stranded as a waterfall cascaded into a road after heavy rain in the Philippines.
Footage shows the overflowing Tamaraw Waterfalls spraying all over as motorists stopped at a distance in Oriental Mindoro province on July 18.
The bridge beside the waterfall could not be seen due to the water affected visibility and the path was later closed by authorities.
Resident Zalde Lingon said: ‘This is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Puerto Galera. No vehicle could pass because the falls overflowed and reached the road.'
The incident happened three days before typhoon Gaemi entered the Philippines.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Gaemi, locally named Carina, affects mainland Luzon and can become a typhoon.
It is expected to exit the Philippines on July 25 and make landfall in the northern part of Taiwan.
Pagasa said: ‘Carina is forecast to make landfall over the northern portion of Taiwan this afternoon or early evening. On the track forecast, the typhoon will cross the rugged terrain of Taiwan and exit the Philippine area of responsibility.'
