Flash floods surged through a road as motorists rushed home during typhoon Gaemi in the Philippines.

Footage shows the muddy deluge gushing down a forest into the path where there were motorcycle riders passing through in Rizal on July 23.

Local Cyril Piernas said: ‘The water is rising and would soon flood the streets due to typhoon Carina.'

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Gaemi, locally named Carina, affects the mainland Luzon.

It is expected to exit the Philippines on July 25, as it heads to the northern part of Taiwan where it will make a landfall.

Pagasa said: ‘Carina is forecast to make landfall over the northern portion of Taiwan this afternoon or early evening. On the track forecast, the typhoon will cross the rugged terrain of Taiwan and exit the Philippine area of responsibility.'
