A remarkable time-lapse video recorded on July 20-21, 2024, by ALERTCalifornia's Blue Mtn Kern cameras has captured endangered California condors in their natural habitat, offering a rare glimpse into their daily routines.

The footage showcases the majestic birds roosting against the backdrop of moonset and sunrise, with the condors gradually awakening to start their day. In the first clip, recorded early Saturday morning on July 20, viewers can observe an individual adorned with a white #62 tag, identifying him as male condor #462 from the Southern California flock. Born in the wild, this 16-year-old condor is a testament to the ongoing conservation efforts aimed at preserving the species.

The second clip, starting at sunset and spanning overnight from July 20 to 21, features another notable bird identified by a yellow "Y" tag. This condor, known as male #784 or "Eeuukey," hails from the Southern California flock and was born nine years ago at the Los Angeles Zoo.
