Families were stranded in their homes as raging flood submerged a street during typhoon Gaemi in the Philippines.

Footage shows residents fleeing as water rose outside their properties in Laguna on July 23.

An electric bike and a car was caught in strong currents and were swept away by the deluge.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Gaemi, locally named Carina, affects mainland Luzon.

It is expected to exit the Philippines on July 25, as it heads to the northern part of Taiwan where it will make a landfall.

Pagasa said: ‘Carina is forecast to make landfall over the northern portion of Taiwan this afternoon or early evening. On the track forecast, the typhoon will cross the rugged terrain of Taiwan and exit the Philippine area of responsibility.'
