A resident named Wu Shuhong in southern China has successfully grown a colossal pumpkin weighing over 85 kilograms and measuring about 70 centimetres in diameter.

The impressive video was filmed in Chongqing on July 20.

Wu, who manages a 4.67-hectare fruit farm, received giant pumpkin seeds from a friend two months ago and decided to experiment with them.

Growing such pumpkins requires meticulous care, so Wu fertilised the pumpkin every two days and protected it from pests with a special cloth cover.

After two months of careful nurturing, the giant pumpkin has finally emerged, so large that it takes two people to lift it. The massive pumpkin has not only amazed Wu but also captivated local villagers and passing tourists, many of whom have come to see and photograph it.

Although the market price for pumpkins is about 1 to 1.2 yuan per kilogram, Wu's giant pumpkin is intended solely for display rather than sale or consumption. He views growing giant pumpkins as a form of experimentation and innovation in traditional agriculture.

Currently, the giant pumpkin has become a temporary tourist attraction, drawing numerous visitors. Wu plans to continue exploring and innovating to bring more surprises and joy to tourists.
