This is the terrifying moment intense wind blew a metal roof off a building in Taiwan as Typhoon Gaemi battered the country.

Jeremy Yao witnessed the roof of the fifth floor of the establishment collapse as heavy gusts of wind damaged the property in Hualien on July 24.

Footage shows the covering being blown away, resulting in debris and rocks falling onto the streets.

The filmer said: 'It's windy and rainy. It's hard to predict when the metal roof on the top floor of Zhongxing Road in Hualien will fall. Don't go out unless necessary.'

Three people have been killed in Taiwan while 13 in neighbouring Philippines, where the typhoon first reached. Officials said at least 220 have been injured in Taiwan, with flights cancelled and schools and offices closed.
