Armed soldiers surprise fisherman as they line up next to him for military drill
This is the moment a man hoping to spend a quiet day of fishing was surrounded by a dozen armed soldiers tasked with a military drill at the same spot.
The angle was seated in his parked van on a bridge that is a popular fishing spot among locals when he found himself in the middle of a military formation on the afternoon of July 21.
Soldiers lined up left and right from his van and squatted behind the barricade while pointing their rifles toward an unseen mock target in Tainan, Taiwan.
While no one disturbed or forced the fisherman to leave, they would not explain what was going on either.
In the video, he was heard saying: 'Look at this you guys… What's going on here?'
But the soldiers remained silent as the man filmed the odd scene of his fishing rods centred between the numerous weapons.
He said: 'I'm just a fisherman, do I really need so many people to protect me?'
According to local media, the location is near a military camp which gives it strategic importance.
The peculiar scene, reports say, was likely the result of soldiers preparing for the Han military exercise, the largest military exercise conducted by Taiwan's military every year.
This year, it is reportedly taking place from July 22 to July 26.
