Three pet dogs were carried to safety on a basin across floods in the Philippines.

Footage shows a couple holding together the container where the pooches boarded so they could all evacuate to safe grounds in Manila on July 24 as Typhoon Gaemi battered the capital.

The wife Lanie Ancajas and her husband's home was submerged in a 4ft-deep deluge so they had to leave with their pet canines.

Neighbour Patrick Alde said he was touched when he saw the couple wading in the water with the dogs.

He said: ‘It was raining heavily and once it stopped they went out with their dogs to find a safer place.'

Typhoon Gaemi killed 13 in the Philippines after lashing the island of Luzon and intensifying monsoon rains for almost a week. It headed to Taiwan, killing three people and injuring more than 200 when it made landfall.
