The four-day Maritime Festival officially opened on Wednesday in Finland's harbor city of Kotka.
Despite the blazing sun, the highly anticipated parade still drew a large crowd on the opening day.
Starting in 1962, the festival has grown to become one of Finland's largest and most popular summer celebrations, attracting around 20,000 to 30,000 visitors from across the country each year.
In addition to the spectacular parade, a variety of cultural performances will follow in the coming days.
