Jan Grube, a 36-year-old wedding photographer from northern Germany, was returning home from dinner with his family on July 23rd when they spotted a tornado rising above the Elbe River. Standing on a nearby hill, they observed the tornado, which reached at least 300 meters in height and was just 200 meters from a nuclear power station. Despite the impressive natural phenomenon, they were relieved that it quickly dissipated and no one was harmed.

Hi, my name is Jan Grube. I am a 36-year-old wedding photographer from the north of Germany. When I was coming home from dinner with my family on July 23rd, we saw, let's say, a needle coming out of the sky in the distance. As we got closer, we realized it was a tornado at least 300 meters high on the Elbe River, just 200 meters from a nuclear power station. When we stood up there on the hill, we could really feel the updrafts. We are glad to be able to experience this natural spectacle, as tornadoes are rare in Germany, but we are also glad that it dissipated quickly and no one was hurt.
