STORYLINE:

Chinese tourists visiting Zagreb are surprised and thrilled to see Chinese police officers conducting joint patrols with Croatian colleagues, as the fifth China-Croatia joint police patrol started this week.

Eight Chinese police officers joined the one-month mission, which will cover Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Zadar and Plitvice Lakes National Park, four of Croatia's most popular tourist destinations. Their duty is to help Croatian police officers in assisting Chinese tourists visiting Croatia, whose number has been surging after the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I think Croatia is a tourist country, and more and more Chinese tourists are coming to Croatia. First, we will work with the Croatian police to provide some necessary help to Chinese tourists in Croatia, especially in reporting some criminal cases, including lost items. Another is about providing help to the Chinese and overseas Chinese in Croatia. We will also take the opportunity of this joint patrol to visit them, collect some of their security concerns. The development of the joint patrol has greatly improved the level of police cooperation between China and Croatia. The joint patrol has become a model of cooperation between the Chinese and Croatian police. In the future, we can use the platform of the joint patrol to further expand the cooperation between the Chinese and Croatian police."

The sight of Chinese police officers is a big surprise and delight for Chinese tourists visiting Croatia as their presence makes them feel safer.
