Heroic police officer springs to rescue elderly passenger tumbling down escalator in China
A police officer sprang to the rescue of an elderly passenger who was tumbling down an escalator in southern China.
The heroic rescue was captured on CCTV in Ruijin City in Jiangxi Province on July 15.
The elderly passenger, identified as Mr. Yang, lost his balance while carrying large luggage and tumbled down the escalator.
In a critical moment, on-duty auxiliary police officer Mao Ning noticed the dangerous situation. Without hesitation, he rushed up the escalator, where other travellers had already pressed the emergency stop button. Mao Ning quickly assisted Mr. Yang, helping him to his feet.
Officer Mao Ning stated, "At that moment, I didn't think about anything else. Seeing a passenger in danger, I ran over immediately. I see this as my duty and responsibility as a police auxiliary and a party member."
Thanks to the timely intervention, Mr. Yang was unharmed and continued his journey on the next train.
