Birmingham Police investigate after man dies and 2 others hospitalised in fatal RTC on Coventry Road
An 18-year-old man has died and 2 others hospitalised after the car had ‘come off the road and collided with a tree’ in Birmingham.
West Midlands Police held the scene where a silver coloured car was draped in fire service sheets and a large blue police tent.
Officers also erected screens to block the view from rubber-necking drivers.
A Collision Investigation Officer was at the scene, on Coventry Road, which is a 40mph average speed camera route to and from Birmingham Airport.
Evidence markers were placed next to several points of interest, including a headlight which was thrown yards down the road after the impact.
The road had another fatal collision one year ago where a child died on the opposite side of the road at the same traffic lights after he was hit by a car as he crossed on his bicycle.
WEST MIDS AMBULANCE STATEMENT: A man has died after a collision involving a car in Yardley, Birmingham this morning.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 6.01am to the junction of Kings Road and Coventry Road and sent three ambulances, two paramedic officers, MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic and the Air Ambulance Critical Care Car to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman says: ‘On arrival, crews found a car had come off the road and collided with a tree.
