This is the heartwarming moment a kind local rescued kittens made homeless during Typhoon Gaemi.

Jon Cort spotted two ginger cats on top of the roof of an abandoned house in Manila, the Philippines, on July 24.

Footage shows the kind-hearted rescuer commanding the poor felines to jump while he holds an umbrella upside down as an improvised safety net.

The brave furry creatures leaped impressively, showing their trust in the man.

He then gently grabbed them and eventually adopted the animals, naming them Cari and Carl after Carina, the local name of the typhoon.

Jon said: 'We heard cries last night, but the rain was so severe we couldn't find the cats. Fortunately, they showed themselves in the morning and now they are safe with us.'

The country has been experiencing severe rainfall from the storm, which has since moved to Taiwan. At least 22 people were killed in the Philippines and three others in Taiwan.

Thousands of animals have been reported in distress and missing as floods submerge cities across the country.
