On the afternoon of July 25, around 3 PM, a landslide occurred at the undeveloped section near Fadai Stone in the Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. The landslide saw a large amount of rocks and mud cascade down the mountain, accompanied by a cloud of dust and a loud roar as debris plunged into the river, creating massive waves. Fortunately, the swift evacuation ensured no casualties.

Eyewitness Mr. Sun described how numerous tourists were taking photos at Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge when the opposite mountain suddenly gave way. Visitors urgently fled the scene. Another tourist, who experienced the landslide firsthand, recounted stones falling right in front of them as they ran to safety, feeling weak-kneed upon reaching a secure spot. Despite the perilous situation, the quick reactions of tourists and staff averted a more serious outcome.

The Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the Longpan Township Government of Yulong Naxi Autonomous County in Lijiang confirmed that the landslide occurred outside the managed area of the Tiger Leaping Gorge. Initial investigations suggest that continuous rainfall caused the mountain to slide.
