Paris, France - July 27, 2024

Yiannis Exarchos, CEO of Olympic Broadcast Services (OBS) has hailed the broadcasting expertise of China Media Group (CMG) as well as its advanced 8k technology that will provide high resolution coverage of the competition.

The 8K ultra-high-definition (UHD) broadcast vans developed by CMG were officially put into use at the Stade de France (Stadium of France) in Paris on Thursday for coverage of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

It marks the second time for CMG's "Chinese red" broadcast vans are providing overseas broadcast technical team support for OBS after the Tokyo Games, as well as the first time for the vans to produce the 8K public signal for the Summer Olympics.

During the Paris Olympics, the vans will bring 8K international public signals for track and field events as well as the closing ceremony to global audiences.

"8K is the next frontier. 8k is a technology that allows us to provide to the audience resolution which is as good or if not better than what our eyes can see. And this is why potentially it's a technology with a lot of future. The fact that CMG is helping us as one of the world pioneers also in this technology is very, very important, not just for the world of sports, but the world of broadcasting in in general," said Exarchos in a recent interview with China Global Television (CGTN).

Over the years, CMG has evolved into more than just a leading content producer and event coverage expert—it has also emerged as a formidable force in technology, particularly in digital media.

This makes CMG an ideal partner in OBS's pursuit of high-quality broadcasting, the seasoned television producer said.

"It's important to understand that in order to achieve a production in 8K, one needs to reach an extremely high level of technical expertise, because this technology is an extremely demanding technology. But CMG has become through the years not just one of the best companies in producing content, in covering events, but also a technological powerhouse, especially for digital media. Ourselves in the Olympics, as the Olympics athletes strive for excellence, also, we're striving for excellence in media. And in this effort, we consider their CMG one of our major partners around the world because CMG does represent excellence in broadcasting and digital media," said Exarchos.
