Jefferson County, CO, USA - July 26, 2024

In a remarkable wildlife encounter, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) recently teamed up with Colorado Parks and Wildlife (COParksWildlife) to relocate a hefty 600-pound moose that was causing a stir in South Jeffco. The mammoth animal, affectionately dubbed "Mr. Moose," was spotted peering into windows and leisurely lounging in a local yard.

Responding to the unusual sighting, JCSO animal control officers and deputies joined forces with wildlife experts to safely and efficiently transport the moose back to its natural habitat. The operation required the efforts of eight individuals to manage the massive animal and ensure its safe return without harm to the community or the moose.
