Venezuela: Thousands of Maduro's supporters attended his closing campaign in Caracas
Caracas, Venezuela - July 25, 2024
Ahead of next Sunday's elections in Venezuela, both President Nicolas Maduro, who will seek his third consecutive term, and Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, with the support of disqualified opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, closed their respective campaigns. In this context, the streets of Caracas were overflowing with expectation for the elections, which are generating concern throughout the region.
"Again in the streets, from one end to the other!", celebrated the president before a crowd that filled the emblematic Bolivar Avenue. "People in the streets saying: victory, popular victory!".
During his speech, Maduro highlighted, "We have constituted a new political, social, cultural majority, which is going to be expressed with a resounding electoral majority, we have not only united Chavismo, we are all united without a single fissure, a single block of strength." Earlier, in an act in Maracaibo, capital of the oil state of Zulia, he promised a triumph wielding a saber of the Venezuelan hero Simon Bolivar.
"The future of Venezuela for the next 50 years is being decided. Peace or war, guarimba or tranquility, extreme right or chavista, fascism or popular democracy, savage capitalism. We have the definitive battle. There will be a homeland or we will be a colony. Think well for your family, for your enterprise, for your company, for your work", emphasized the President.
