Washington, United States - July 18, 2024

U.S. GDP grew more than expected in the second quarter of 2024, 2.8% in annual projection, versus 1.4% in the first quarter, according to the Commerce Department's first estimate, released Thursday.

Analysts anticipated stronger growth in the second quarter, albeit of a smaller magnitude (1.9%) for the April-June period, according to the consensus published by briefing.com. The U.S. measures its economy's growth in the quarter with a 12-month projection based on conditions at the time of measurement.
