Members of the Tual city resort police, with Brimob BKO 4th Pioneer Regiment Maluku Police attacked each other using firearms, in Tual city, Maluku province, Indonesia, on Sunday 28 July 2024 evening.

The two Indonesian police institutions were involved in a clash on Jalan Raya Tual City. The clash occurred near the Tual city resort police station. The clash was allegedly triggered by a misunderstanding during a vehicle raid carried out by the Tual city resort police traffic police unit.

"It is true that a number of Tual city resort police officers and a number of Brimob (special police) officers were involved in clashes," said Police Commissioner Aries Aminullah, Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Regional Police, Commissioner of Police when confirmed on Monday 29 July 2024.

Police Commissioner Aries as head of public relations for the Maluku Regional Police added that the clash started with an argument during a disciplinary traffic patrol using a racing exhaust.

During the raid, a Brimob (special police) person was arrested for using a racing exhaust, while one of his friends managed to escape.

Not long after, dozens of friends from Brimob (special police) arrived who immediately attacked the Tual City resort police personnel.

"There was a patrol, then there was a racing exhaust raid, then someone was taken into custody, but someone ran to report the incident to their friends. Thirty members of the Brimob (special police) attacked members of the Tual City resort police. Then the clash occurred," he added.

As a result of this clash, the window panes at the Tual City resort police office were damaged, the walls of the office were pierced by bullets, and the motorbike belonging to a member of the Tual City resort police was badly damaged.

It is known that in the clash between the police and special police there were no casualties.
