Tourists and workers fled from falling debris as storm winds destroyed a roof at a pier in Thailand.

Footage shows a mother with her kids running to safety as the roof panels crash onto the ground in Nuanthip Pier in Rayong province on July 25.

No one was hurt in the storm, which staff members said started in the afternoon with powerful gusts lasting five minutes.

Pier staff member Phuchong Rattanasopha said: 'The storm blew fast and strong, lasting around five minutes.  It blew away the roof, which was old, and broke trees, but no one was harmed.'

A national park staff member said that he had been stationed there for five years but had never seen anything like that.

He said: 'I thought I would never see his family again but was glad to have survived safely.'

According to the forecast by the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD), the moderate southwest monsoon prevailed over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand that day. At the same time, the low-pressure cell covered upper Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin.

Isolated heavy rains were likely throughout the country, with isolated very heavy rains expected in the East.
