STORYLINE:
Syed Aminul Kabir, director of the Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI), just concluded his trip to the 8th China-South Asia Expo in Kunming, the capital city of southwest China's Yunnan Province.
Kabir, also CEO of May International Trade Services Ltd, told Xinhua on Saturday that it was a great experience.
SOUNDBITE 1 (English): SYED AMINUL KABIR, Director of Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry
"It is a great experience. It's a really great platform. It's an opportunity to expand our footprint to South Asia countries, including some ASEAN countries. So it is not only that China has given us a platform to show our products to the Chinese. Bangladesh has got a chance to showcase its products and services and corporations to other nations. Literally, it has gone global."
Noting that China has been the biggest trade partner of Bangladesh for years, Kabir said that the relationship between the two countries will continue to develop in this way.
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): SYED AMINUL KABIR, Director of Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry
"China has been the biggest trade partner of Bangladesh for the last decade or more. The relationship, the way it's going on for the last decades, will continue to improve. And China is going to be our best trade partner in the days to come. "
Kabir also mentioned that Bangladeshi entrepreneurs are showing great interest in settlements with Chinese yuan.
SOUNDBITE 3 (English): SYED AMINUL KABIR, Director of Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry
"We, as a business group, especially the Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce (and Industry), are emphasizing to request or activate RMB as a currency (for settlements). So we have requested our Chinese friends and also the central bank to look at those particular areas so that our RMB reserve will go up. And definitely, that will help the import of goods from China. So, I can see a great and bright future between China and Bangladesh's trade relationship in connection to that."
