Lorry driver with raised truck bed smashes into archway that collapses on cab
This is the moment a lorry with its bed raised smashes into an archway that then collapses on top of the vehicle's cab and crushes it.
CCTV footage shows the lorry with its bed raised as it crashes into the memorial archway in Guigang, in the Guangxi Autonomous region, in China, on July 19.
The driver of the lorry, unnamed but said to be approximately 60 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained from the accident.
According to relatives, before the crash, the driver had left his home in the morning to conduct work-related tasks and subsequently purchased fish around noon in preparation for lunch.
The driver had forgotten to lower the lorry bed after unloading his cargo, leading to the collision with the archway.
The impact resulted in the structure collapsing onto the vehicle's cabin and crushing the driver to death.
Relatives expressed their sorrow not only over the loss of their family member but also regarding remarks made by others online in the aftermath of the incident.
They highlighted the emotional toll and the challenges of managing public commentary in light of their tragedy.
