Japan - July 28, 2024

Japanese people rallied near the venue of the "2+2" security talks between Japanese and U.S. top diplomats and defense chiefs in Tokyo on Sunday in a protest against the military alliance between the two countries, which they said has stirred up regional situation.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin joined their Japanese counterparts, Yoko Kamikawa and Minoru Kihara, at the Japan-U.S. Security Consultative Committee meeting, known as "2+2" security talks, to bolster their alliance in the military and other fields.

Some other protesters condemned the various crimes American troops stationed in Japan's southernmost prefecture Okinawa committed, calling on all Japanese people to oppose the disturbance of regional situation by Japan and the United States.
