USA: Burglary Suspect Allegedly Armed With Knife Fatally Shot by LAPD

07/29/2024 03:28 am (GMT-0700) | MID-CITY, LOS ANGELES – LAPD West Los Angeles patrol units responded to a hot prowl call in the 2600 block of Halm Avenue, which ended hours later with the suspect shot and killed by LAPD officers at the scene.

The 911 caller reported that suspects ran inside of his house and started a fire.

Arriving officers detained possible suspects near the home and then noticed smoke coming from the residence, according to the LAPD. The Los Angeles Fire Department was requested to the scene.

When firefighters arrived and entered the home, they discovered a man armed with a knife, according to the LAPD. Firefighters exited the home and the LAPD promptly set up a containment around the residence. SWAT responded to the scene.

"Around 7:05 a.m., the suspect exited the house armed with a knife and an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was struck by gunfire and died at the scene. No one else was injured during the incident," stated the LAPD on X.
