Gaza - July 28, 2024

Storyline:
Hamas said Monday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has added new conditions and demands to a U.S. proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza.

On Sunday, a joint meeting of senior officials from Israel, Qatar, Egypt, and the United States was held in Italy's Rome to discuss a ceasefire agreement and a prisoner swap deal.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the document with the clarifications regarding the draft agreement that was conveyed from Israel, according to a statement issued by the Israeli Prime Minister's Office.

The negotiations on the main issues will continue in the coming days, it added.

Meanwhile, Palestinian death toll from Israeli attacks in Gaza continues to rise. Qatar's Al Jazeera channel reported that the Israeli army bombed the Khan Younis region in southern Gaza on Monday, killing three people and wounding many others.

At least 33 people died in Israeli attacks in the Palestinian enclave on Monday, according to media reports.

In another development, the Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, said on Monday that the group attacked Israeli military vehicles and soldiers in Khan Younis and killed an Israeli soldier in Gaza City. The group also used rockets to attack Israeli troops in the so-called Netzarim Corridor, an east-west passage through the strip built by the Israel Defense Forces.
