Escaped cows blocked a street as they ran through a neighbourhood in Thailand.

The bovines were being housed in a shed beside their owner's home but annoyed neighbours said they would usually escape and cause delays for drivers in Khon Kaen province.

Footage shows the animals standing in the middle of the path and keeping motorists from passing through on June 3.

The residents had to climb down from their cars and guide them to the side to ease traffic.

One of the residents said: ‘There is cow dung on the streets and the smell is so bad when it rains. We want to avoid confrontation so we reported it to authorities.'

Aside from the smell and traffic issues, the residents were also concerned about safety.

The resident said: ‘Sometimes the cows would sleep in front of houses or enter through fences.'

The village council chief said they will ‘find a solution with the housing administration'.
