This is the moment a veteran male rhino gets a chance to relax after retiring from a stud programme to help boost numbers in the wild.
Taco, a 29-year-old black rhino, arrived at his new home at Frankfurt Zoo, in the German state of Hesse on 23rd July after decades on the worldwide studbook.

Now, say keepers, he's looking forward to years of peaceful retirement in his new home.

Taco arrived from Cologne Zoo after standing down as a leading star of the breeding programme.

Video footage of Taco's arrival shows him emerging from his transport crate into his enclosure.

Within minutes he's exploring his new home and settling down to a snack of veggie treats laid on for him by keepers.

Black rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis), native to Eastern Africa, are listed as Critically Endangered on IUCN's Red List of Threatened Species.

Populations declined by a shocking 97.6 per cent from 1960 to the 1990s, primarily as a result of poaching. It is believed there are around just 6,500 individuals left in the wild.
