Thai mechanics work on their own brand of supercars
Thai mechanics work on their own brand of supercars.
Footage shows the vehicles customised by Unlimited Custom garage whose owner said they produced parts for big bikes like Harley Davidson in Nonthaburi province, Thailand.
Garage owner Daeng Custom said he studied car models and started with his favourite brand Lamborghini, where he drew his inspiration to craft his own version.
He said: ‘I was driven by a passion for supercars but constrained by limited budget. Despite that, my garage expanded to create actual supercars.'
The petrol heads took existing cars and fashioned new bodies with foam and fibreglass.
Daeng added: ‘For custom or replica cars, we inform the Excise Tax department after modifications.'
This ensures the issuance of a certificate confirming the payment of taxes, thus granting permission for the car to be used legally.
Daeng said: ‘Majority of our customers are enthusiasts who appreciate our creations. They are satisfied with the production and understand the process could take up to two years.'
In anticipation of the growing trend in electric vehicles, Daeng has ventured into creating Thai electric motorcycles as a prototype, aiming to compete with foreign brands.
Daeng said that after its unveiling at the Motor Expo, the Thai electric motorcycle prototype received positive visitor feedback.
However, he said reservations have not been opened yet, and further details are expected in the coming year.
Daeng said: 'Our garage functions as a part manufacturer for various companies, this shows the capability of Thai craftsmanship. We have yet to confront the challenge of limited investment support, which are challenges to our expansion and growth.'

1.54 Hello I'm Daeng Custom. We are originally an accessory shop. We work on big bikes like Harley Davidson. We do those fat bikes
2.06 Our scope of work is mostly on making auto vehicle parts. We wanted to try expanding our work scope from just making parts to constructing a whole car
2.17 we wanted to check if it's possible. I like supercars but I have limited funds. I don't have enough to purchase the original that costs like 30 to 40 million
2.29 I wanted to try constructing it on my own. I wanted to see if it's possible. That's how it all started
2.38 First I study the details of the model I like. For example, I like a Lamborghini supercar. Because of my liking, I take inspiration from the Lamborghini's detailing and shapes and start doing it by myself
2.58 I wanted to see how good will it look. Will it be as good as my favourite car
3.08 We first start with vehicles with registration such as old cars. We cut out its body then I made a model using foam sheets. I turn the foam sheets into the model I want
3.17 It's made out of fibreglass. After making a custom car or car replica, you have to inform the Excise Department that this car here has been modified
3.32 So the excise department can then issue a certification that we have paid taxes correctly and that the vehicles can be driven.
3.39 Mostly people who are really into these things are quite satisfied with my work. Since customising one car takes time.
3.52 It takes 1-2 years. Because there are many tiny details. These days I'm seeing the growing trend of EVs. The usage of combustion vehicles will decrease
4.07 I want to try and start a brand that is owned by Thai people. I want to show that we can manufacture motorcycles in our country and come up with our own design
4.17 And see if we can compete with those foreign brands. So I made a prototype. I'm currently working on the wiring and battery so I can register my own brand
4.33 Last year I was at the Motor Expo. But my product is not open to pre-order. The response has been great. I think it should be soon. Maybe after 2024
4.42 I think after registering everything, I should be able to launch in the market. Truth is Thais are like hired gunmen.
4.52 We're able to manufacture parts for reputable brands that have invested in our country. We have been doing that for years
5.01 We can do it ourselves. The ability of Thai people is no less than other countries. We can compete
5.09 Now the only thing that is missing is a funding person/company to support in expansion of talent to turn it into a functional vehicle. Like those companies in Japan and China
5.21 On the Facebook page it's Unlimited-Custom and Facebook profile it's Suriyan Janpong. We will design the accessories and parts
5.36 Anything that has to do with big bikes and cars of every brand and model. You can come and discuss the model with me
