Schoolboy hops off steps to dodge ceiling as it collapses
An alert schoolboy hopped off the front porch to dodge falling debris as the ceiling collapsed.
Chita was playing games on his phone outside their house when he heard a rumbling sound behind him in Ratchaburi province, Thailand, on July 27.
He paused the smartphone and watched calmly before he realised the structure was about to fall and he fled for his life.
CCTV footage shows Chita jumping off the steps, evading the ceiling that crashed to the floor. He then called his parents for help.
Father Supob Mueansri, 47, said: ‘I was working at the back of our house while my son was playing. Then I saw him running towards me saying the ceiling had collapsed.'
Supob later checked the scene and found three panels along with wires, light bulbs, and other debris had fallen.
He said: ‘It was the spot where my family usually sat and relaxed. Fortunately, no one was hurt among us.'
The father added families should regularly check their homes to avoid issues.
He said: ‘I heard a noise before, and I thought it was only a broken plant pot.'
Meanwhile, the boy said he was scared when it happened. He said: ‘My legs were shaking, but I ran to my father first because he would know what to do.'
