A large crab escaped from a casserole pot and threatened the cook with its claws in the kitchen.

The crustacean crawled out of the cooking equipment and was found by residents looking for a hiding spot at a home in Bulacan, the Philippines on July 29.

Footage shows the crab avoiding being caught by a woman who was using a broom and basin to try to catch it.

It snapped its pincers to scare the residents away but was eventually caught when it was trapped under a plastic container.

Resident Arlene Francisco said: ‘We left three crabs in the casserole alive. We planned to cook them when we returned home.

'After attending the party, two crabs jumped out of the casserole, and the woman in the video was able to catch one easily, but the other one in the video was hard to catch.

'It was funny because the crab is resistant, and it was a large crab, and we were afraid to catch it even though we were laughing.'
