USA: Coast Guard and Partners Rescue 22 Migrants Amid High-Seas Dram
Miami, USA - July 27, 2024
In a daring maritime rescue operation, the Coast Guard, along with partner agencies, successfully saved and transferred 22 migrants to safety near the Bahamas.
The Coast Guard Cutter Manowar's crew first alerted Sector Miami watchstanders on July 27, 2024, about an unlawful migrant vessel in distress, located 8 miles east of Government Cut, Florida. Responding swiftly, law enforcement boat crews from U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations, together with Coast Guard Station Miami Beach, intercepted the vessel.
Tragically, the vessel capsized during the interception, prompting a swift and heroic response. The combined efforts of the rescue teams led to the successful extraction of 11 individuals from the water. They were immediately provided with medical attention and necessary support.
