Heartstopping moment out-of-control minivan almost hits family on front porch
This is the terrifying moment an out-of-control minivan nearly hit a family sitting on their front porch in Thailand.
CCTV footage shows a loud crash jolting the residents, shortly before the vehicle veered off the road toward their home in Nakhon Ratchasima province on July 30.
The homeowner, Kinna Yonnakornjong, 39, said: 'We were sitting outside after having lunch when we heard a loud noise. At first, I thought it was a tyre explosion, but then we saw the van headed our way.'
The van reportedly crashed with a pickup truck while travelling along Highway 224. The truck was said to have smashed into a house around 100 metres away.
No injuries were reported from the incident.
Kinna said renovations for a four-lane expansion were underway on the road.
Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.
Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
