Cyclist narrowly escapes serious injury after getting trapped under lorry in China
On July 27, in Ditang Street, Yuyao, southern China, a man riding an electric bicycle narrowly escaped a severe accident after inadvertently entering the blind spot of a tanker truck. The man, along with his bicycle, was pulled under the vehicle, with both legs trapped under the front wheel of the tanker, rendering him immobile.
Following the incident, local traffic police swiftly implemented traffic control measures at the scene to prevent further accidents. Firefighters arrived promptly and assessed the situation beneath the vehicle. They used hydraulic jacks and lifters to raise the front wheel of the tanker, allowing medical personnel to carefully extract the trapped man. The rescue operation took just over ten minutes, after which the man was safely transported to the hospital for treatment.
Liao Hao from the Langxia Station of Yuyao's Fire Rescue Brigade reported that the man's left leg was pinned under the tire, causing noticeable swelling, and he sustained a bleeding injury on one hand due to friction during the incident. The quick response prevented potentially dire consequences, with the man considered lucky to have survived.
Police have reminded the public that large trucks and trailers have significant blind spots, particularly when turning, which can easily lead to accidents. Cyclists and other vehicles are advised to keep a safe distance and yield to these large vehicles to avoid similar incidents.
